TVS Motor Company will be the first Indian two-wheeler manufacturer to hold an electric two-wheeler racing championship. It will debut in the fourth round of the Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC) on September 29, 2023. Eight riders, handpicked by TVS Racing, will compete on Apache RTE electric race bikes specially built for this championship.
TVS hasn't revealed the exact battery and motor specifications of the Apache RTE, but we know that the battery case is made of carbon fibre and is a stressed member of the chassis. The motor and motor controller have liquid cooling to keep them from overheating during competition. The battery management system is custom-built with race-specific algorithms, and the motor is connected to the rear wheel via a sprocket and chain set.
Other high-end, race-specific components on the Apache RTE include custom Ohlins front and rear suspension, Brembo callipers and master cylinder, carbon fibre wheels at both ends, sticky Pirelli Supercorsa tires, and carbon fibre fairing. The bike is complete with a unique featuring TVS Racing Factory colours and sustainability-inspired graphics.
