TVS X Electric Scooter Launched In India At Rs 2.50 Lakh, Most Expensive In Country

The TVS X is a new e-scooter that comes with ABS as standard, making it the first in India to do so. TVS has launched its much-awaited electric scooter, the X, at Rs 2.50 lakh. Bookings for the X will begin soon, and deliveries are expected to start in early 2024.

The TVS X is powered by a 4.4kWh battery that has an IDC range of 140 km. The battery pack can be charged with either the Smart X Home rapid charger or the 950W portable charger. The Smart X Home rapid charger can top up the battery from 0-50 per cent in 50 minutes, while the 950W portable charger takes 4 hours and 30 minutes to charge the battery.

The TVS X is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) that produces 11 kW of peak power (7 kW of continuous power) and 40 Nm of peak torque. The X is the first e-scooter in India to feature ABS, albeit a single-channel system.

The TVS X is built on the TVS XLETON platform and has a maxi-style format. However, it has a very approachable seat height of 770 mm. A unique feature of the X is its ram-air-cooled Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) motor. Regenerative braking is also available, with multiple levels to choose from.

The TVS X features a 10.25-inch TFT dashboard that can be tilted to suit the rider's preference. You can also watch videos or play games on the dashboard when the scooter is stationary, thanks to the Playtech entertainment system.

The TVS X has a radical styling that resembles the well-received Creon concept from the 2018 Auto Expo. The most notable thing about the X is that it does not have a floorboard. The X also has a split-seat setup, which is not commonly seen on scooters. The under-seat storage area measures 19 litres in capacity.

The TVS X is the most expensive e-scooter on sale in India today, priced at Rs 2.50 lakh. It does not qualify for the FAME-II subsidy. Bookings for the X will begin tonight, and deliveries will start in November 2023 in Bengaluru, followed by the rest of India by March 2024. The first 2,000 owners will get a smartwatch and a curated concierge package worth Rs 18,000 for free.
