Hyundai Motor India has launched the highly anticipated Exter SUV in India, starting at an attractive price of Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). The Exter enters the market with a similar starting price as the Tata Punch, offering customers a compelling choice. However, this introductory price can be increased in the coming months.
Under the hood, the Hyundai Exter is equipped with a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder Kappa petrol engine, now E20 fuel ready. This powertrain delivers a maximum power output of 83PS and a peak twisting force of 113.8Nm. There's the choice to pair it with either a 5-speed MT or 5-speed AMT. Notably, the Exter offers segment-first paddle shifters for enhanced driving experience. Additionally, a CNG variant is available, delivering 69PS of power and 95.2Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
In terms of fuel efficiency, the Hyundai Exter delivers an impressive mileage of 19.4kmpl for the petrol manual variant, 19.2kmpl for the petrol automatic variant, and 27.1km/kg for the CNG manual variant.
The Exter's exterior design is characterized by a striking parametric grille, LED projector headlamps, signature H-LED taillamps, and H-LED daytime running lights (DRLs). The car comes with some exciting additional features such as protective plates at the front and back, stylish 15-inch alloy wheels with a diamond-cut design, sleek roof rails, and a cool shark fin antenna.
Customers have a range of colour options to choose from, including six monotone and three dual-tone schemes. Four new exclusive additions have been introduced, namely Cosmic Blue, Ranger Khaki, Cosmic Blue with Abyss Black roof, and Ranger Khaki with Abyss Black roof. The interiors are available in three attractive colours: Light Sage, Cosmic Blue, and Silver.
In terms of dimensions, the Hyundai Exter measures 3,815mm in length, 1,710mm in width, and 1,631mm in height (with roof rails). It boasts a segment-leading wheelbase of 2,450mm and offers a spacious boot capacity of 391 litres.
Stepping inside the cabin, you'll notice a sleek black 3D pattern finish on the dashboard. The Exter offers a premium experience with leatherette upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, footwell lighting, and metal pedals. It stands out with segment-first features such as a voice-enabled electric sunroof, a dashcam with dual camera, a wireless charger, rear AC vents, and a cooled glove box.
The Hyundai Exter is equipped with advanced technologies, including an 8-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch coloured TFT multi-information display, cruise control, automatic climate control, six airbags, and seatbelt reminders for all seats. The SUV also offers OTA updates for infotainment and map software.
Hyundai introduces its Bluelink technology in the Exter, providing more than 60 connected car features for safety, security, remote services, location-based services, vehicle diagnostics, and voice assistance. The Exter offers over 90 embedded voice commands, including Hinglish voice commands, which work even without internet connectivity.
As for the warranty, Hyundai offers a standard warranty of 3 years and unlimited kilometres for their vehicles. And for extra coverage, you can extend it up to 7 years. Buyers will also enjoy three years of free Bluelink subscription and three years of roadside assistance with taxi benefits.
