The all-new Toyota Fortuner 2024 has been officially revealed in Thailand, and it may not be the major upgrade that some people were expecting. With some significant changes, including a more powerful engine, a new infotainment system and some styling tweaks. We expect the Indian-spec Fortuner to get similar updates when it launches later this year.
The new Toyota Fortuner now gets more power and technology than before. The diesel version of the SUV uses the same engine but it has been updated and produced 224 horsepower and 550 Newton-meters of force, an increase of 20 horsepower and 50 Newton-meters over the previous model.
The previous model was already no slouch, but the extra power will be welcome. The interior of the Fortuner has also updates, including a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The Thai-spec Fortuner also gets a tyre monitoring system, which has been available in India for a while. However, there is still no sunroof, and the rear AC is still roof-mounted. The dashboard is also the same, as the Fortuner is not a new generation. This is more of an upgrade for the new model year.
The exterior of the Fortuner has not been updated, not even the front grille. The interiors are also the same. Toyota needs to upgrade its existing Fortuner and we have been hearing about an all-new Fortuner for a while.
Toyota has been going all-out recently, achieving a monthly sales benchmark of 20,000 units with its new lineup of vehicles, including the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Innova Hycross, and rebadged Maruti Suzuki models like the Glanza and the recently launched Rumion.
In 2024, we can expect to see more rebadged Maruti Suzuki models from Toyota, such as the Fronx and the Ciaz. Toyota is already exporting the Ciaz to global markets, and it is not too far from introducing it in India as well. Toyota also has plans for an all-new Fortuner which we hope to be released in late 2024 or 2025.
