OpenChatGPT IOS App Expands To Canada, India, Brazil, And 30+ Countries

OpenAI, the renowned AI organization, has made its ChatGPT app available to iOS users in India, Canada, Brazil, and more than 30 other countries. This expansion comes just a week after its initial launch in the United States, showcasing OpenAI's commitment to global accessibility.

The list of newly supported countries includes Algeria, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Estonia, Ghana, India, Iraq, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mexico, Morocco, Namibia, Nauru, Oman, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Qatar, Slovenia, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Earlier this week, OpenAI further expanded the availability of the ChatGPT app to 11 additional countries following its success in the U.S. These countries include France, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Nigeria, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.

Within just six days of its launch in the U.S., the ChatGPT mobile app achieved over half a million downloads, making it one of the most successful new apps. According to data from app intelligence firm data.ai, the app surpassed other AI and chatbot apps, as well as Microsoft Edge and Bing apps, in terms of downloads in the U.S.

The ChatGPT app, which can be downloaded for free and is ad-free, allows users to engage with the AI-powered chatbot on their iPhones. It also supports voice input through OpenAI's speech recognition system, Whisper, and provides advanced features to ChatGPT Plus subscribers through GPT-4. Users can conveniently subscribe to the ChatGPT Plus service, priced at $20 per month in the U.S., directly through the iOS app.

Currently available exclusively for iOS, OpenAI plans to release an Android version of the ChatGPT app in the near future. With backing from prominent investors like Microsoft, Tiger Global, and a16z, OpenAI aims to expand its user base and enhance accessibility across different platforms.

The expansion of the ChatGPT app coincides with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman's efforts to engage with global policymakers and address their concerns about AI. Altman has been meeting with several European state heads and has plans to visit India in the coming weeks, emphasizing OpenAI's dedication to fostering international connections and understanding the global landscape of AI.

Stay tuned for further updates on OpenAI's advancements and the future developments of the ChatGPT app as it continues to revolutionize AI-based conversational experiences.
