Amazon has partnered with India's largest bank, SBI, to give SBI cardholders a discount on their purchases during the Great Indian Festival sale.
Amazon's Great Indian Festival (GIF), its flagship sale event, will go live on October 10. As usual, Prime members will get early access to the sale, the e-commerce giant announced on its app on September 25.
While Flipkart has not yet announced the dates for its Big Billion Days (BBD) sale, Amazon's Great Indian Festival (GIF) and Flipkart's BBD have overlapped in the past and will do so again this year.
E-commerce companies depend on their festive season sales, which account for about half of their annual gross merchandise value (GMV). Festive season sales are expected to grow by up to 20% annually reaching Rs 90,000 crore in GMV this year.
Many customers add products to their wishlists and complete their purchases during these sales because of the deep discounts offered by the companies.
For instance, Amazon's Great Indian Festival is teasing discounts of 40-60% on a wide range of categories, including smartphones, electronics and accessories, home and kitchen, fashion, and TVs.
Customers are also eagerly awaiting the purchase of the newly released iPhone 15, which has already been a hit in India. While some customers camped outside Apple stores for hours to buy the iPhone 15, others are waiting for the product to go live on e-commerce platforms during the sale.
I believe that 2023 could be the best festive sales year in recent years. We're excited for Diwali sale," said Amazon India head Manish Tiwary at a company event last month. Amazon has even opened its logistics network to merchants who do not sell on its platform.
