Don't Miss The Last Chance: Update Your Aadhaar Card Details Online For Free Before December 14

Until December 14, Indian residents can update or correct their demographic information on their Aadhaar cards through the online portal at no cost, taking advantage of UIDAI's temporary waiver of the standard Rs. 50 fee.

While the online update of demographic details is free, updating photographs, iris, or other biometric information requires an in-person visit to an Aadhaar enrollment centre and payment of the applicable fee.

The in-person requirement for biometric updates stems from the need for specialized equipment at enrollment centres to capture fingerprints, iris patterns, and other biometric data. Moreover, this process involves essential verification procedures to safeguard against defrauding activities.

UIDAI, the governing body of Aadhaar, mandates regular Aadhaar card updates every 10 years to maintain data accuracy and prevent fraud.

UIDAI emphasizes the importance of updating Aadhaar details to reflect life changes, such as marriage, relocation, or familial status alterations, as well as personal preferences regarding the mobile number or email address.

UIDAI underscores the significance of regular Aadhaar updates to ensure its accuracy, integrity, and continued relevance as a trusted identification tool for various services and transactions."

Furthermore, government guidelines specify that upon reaching the age of 15, children must undergo mandatory biometric data updates to ensure the continued validity and reliability of their Aadhaar information as they transition into adulthood.
