Government Clarifies No Plans To Change Name Of India, But Official Usage Of "Bharat" Now Standard

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar commented on the news spread about the names "India" and "Bharat," saying that the latter has a purpose that is reflected in the Constitution of India.

The controversy was provoked by Rashtrapati Bhavan's decision to send out invitations for a G20 dinner on September 9 in the name of "President of Bharat" instead of "President of India." This news is spread as a rumour that the government is planning to change the country's English name.

Some news reports have claimed that BJP MPs are planning to give priority to the name "Bharat." When everyone asked the question about why the government is using the name "Bharat" instead of "India", External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that the name "Bharat" is mentioned in the Indian Constitution.

When you say "Bharat", it has a special meaning and a special purpose. Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi said that his party is committed to working for both India and Bharat, while the BJP has focused on set against India and Bharat.
