Indian Wedding Season: A Record-Breaking Rs 4.25 Lakh Crore Business Anticipated With 35 Lakh Weddin

Get ready for the grandest celebration of love as India gears up for an extraordinary wedding season. A recent study by experts at the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) predicts that India is going to have an extraordinary number of weddings, with around 35 lakh weddings expected. These celebrations are poised to generate a staggering business of around Rs 4.25 lakh crore, setting a new record.

The wedding season commences in two phases. The first phase, spanning 23 days, kicks off from November 23 and extends until December 15 this year. This period is expected to host approximately 6 lakh weddings, with an average expenditure of Rs 3 lakh per wedding. Following that, approximately one million weddings are scheduled, with each one anticipated to have expenses of approximately Rs 6 lakh.

To add to the grandeur, about 12 lakh weddings are anticipated, with expenses averaging around Rs 10 lakh per wedding. Additionally, we anticipate that approx. 6 lakh weddings will have budget of Rs 25 lakh each, and there will be 50,000 weddings having an estimated budget around Rs 50 lakh.

Moreover, another 50,000 weddings are expected to have high budgets exceeding Rs 1 crore. Delhi, the capital city of India is all set to become a major hub for hosting a large no. of weddings. More than 3.5 lakh weddings are expected to grace the city during this season, generating a remarkable business turnover of about Rs 1 lakh crore. To put this in perspective, the previous year witnessed roughly 32 lakh weddings within the same timeframe, with expenses totaling Rs 3.75 lakh crore.

As B.C. Bhartia, the National President of CAIT, emphasized, the wedding season offers tremendous business prospects. He said that out of all money spent on weddings, about 20% goes to bride & groom, while the other 80% is used to pay different companies that ensure proper management of wedding.

The entire nation, including Delhi, is fully prepared for these joyous occasions. Venues such as banquet halls, hotels, open lawns, public parks, and farmhouses have made elaborate arrangements to accommodate the surge of customers. These preparations include not only the purchase of wedding accessories but also an array of services like tent decorators, flower decorations, crockery, catering, travel services, cab services, orchestras, DJs, horse-drawn processions, wagons, lighting arrangements, and much more. Event management services have also emerged as a significant business prospect, further enhancing the celebrations.

The grandiosity and scale of Indian weddings have always been a spectacle, but with the forthcoming season poised to shatter records, the wedding industry is set to shine brighter than ever.
The next phase of the wedding season will commence in mid-January and continue through till July, promising more joyous celebrations and business opportunities.
