The amazing Prithvi Shaw, a talented Indian cricket opener, has shown his brilliance by hitting an outstanding 244 runs in just 153 balls for Northamptonshire. This happened during the England's One-Day Cup match against Somerset. He hit a whopping 28 fours and 11 sixes, achieving his second List A double century.
Even though it's his first time playing in a county season, the 23-year-old player didn't hold back. He reached his first hundred in just 81 balls. But he didn't stop there – he went on to score 200 runs in only 129 balls, with 24 fours and eight sixes. His performance greatly helped Northamptonshire reach a total of 415/8, after they chose to bat first.
This isn't Shaw's only impressive achievement in List A cricket. Back in February 2021, during the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he achieved a remarkable score of 227 against Puducherry, marking his initial List A double century.
Shaw's journey hasn't been all smooth sailing. Although he started strong, his form dipped, and his position in India's cricket lineup changed. His recent IPL games with Delhi Capitals weren't his best, and he struggled during the competition, which eventually led to him being taken out of the team.
Although he last played for India in July 2021 during the Sri Lanka tour, he was part of the T20I squad against New Zealand earlier this year. However, he didn't get to play in the ongoing series against West Indies.
Besides his cricket challenges, Shaw also faced difficulties off the field. But his dedication to the game shines through in his performances.
With a great track record of scoring 2687 runs in 56 List A matches, with an average of 51.67, Shaw's recent performance shows that he has the potential to make a big impact. Even though he started with scores of 26 and 34 in his first two games for Northamptonshire, his latest double century has definitely put him back in the spotlight.
As Shaw keeps showing his cricket skills, fans are excitedly waiting for more amazing performances from this young and talented player.
