'Shiv Shakti Point': India Names Landing Site For Successful Chandrayaan-3 Mission

Shivshakti Point is the name of the landing site of India's Chandrayaan-3 mission on the Moon's South Pole. The name Shivshakti Point was given by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, on August 26, 2023.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi set named the lunar landing sites for the Chandrayaan-3 and Chandrayaan-2 missions Shivshakti Point and Tiranga Point. The landing site for Chandrayaan-3, which was a success, will be called Shivshakti Point.

The landing site for Chandrayaan-2, which crashed, will be called Tiranga Point. August 23, the landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon's South Pole will now be celebrated as National Space Day in India.

The names pertain to the site where Chandrayaan-3 successfully touched down and the site where Chandrayaan-2 unfortunately crash-landed.

The announcement was made after Prime Minister Modi's recent visit to the ISRO Telemetry, Tracking, and Command Network Mission Control Complex in Bengaluru.

The location on the Moon's South Pole where Chandrayaan-3 successfully touched down in August 2023 will be named "Shivshakti Point". The area where the Chandrayaan-2 lander crashed in 2019 will now be called "Tiranga Point".
