TMC's Victory In Panchayat Elections A Sign Of Things To Come In 2024 Lok Sabha Elections

The TMC won a lot of seats in the panchayat elections in West Bengal. They won the most seats in all three levels of panchayats. The BJP came in second place, far behind the TMC In the panchayat elections.

The TMC won 19,394 (68%) of the 28,456-gram panchayat seats, 1842 (88.34%) of the 2,085 panchayat samiti seats, and 62 of the 63 zilla parishad seats declared till 8 pm on July 11. The BJP won 2,829-gram panchayat seats, 231 panchayat samiti seats, and 2 zilla parishad seats.

The CPI(M) won 1,182-gram panchayat seats, 122 panchayat samiti seats, and 1 zilla parishad seat. The Congress won 33-gram panchayat seats and 1 zilla parishad seat.

The TMC's victory makes a major problem for the BJP which had been hoping to get success in the state after winning the Lok Sabha elections in 2019. The BJP failed to impress its supporters in the panchayat elections and the party is struggling to make supporters in West Bengal.
