After the deadline, the ₹2,000 note will cease to be legal tender and will not be accepted for transactions. The only way to exchange these notes will be to contact the RBI. If you have any ₹2,000 notes, please exchange them at your earliest convenience.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has said that about 93% of the ₹2,000 banknotes in circulation as of May 19, 2023, have been returned to the banking system since then.
According to the data received from the banks, the total value of ₹2,000 banknotes received back from circulation was ₹3.32 lakh crore up to August 31, 2023, the RBI said in a statement.
Please note that ₹2,000 banknotes will cease to be legal tender from October 1, 2023. If you have any ₹2,000 banknotes, please exchange them at your earliest convenience.
The ₹2,000 note was introduced to meet the immediate need for currency after the demonetization of ₹500 and ₹1,000 notes in 2016. Once enough currency in other denominations became available, the ₹2,000 note was withdrawn as part of the RBI's Clean Note Policy.
