Gadar 2 Box Office Collection Day 12: Sunny Deol's Film Enters ₹400 Crore Club, Mints ₹11.50 Cr

Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel reprise their roles as Tara Singh and Sakeena in Gadar 2, the sequel to the 2001 blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. Gadar 2 has been a box office success in India, crossing the ₹400 crore mark in just 12 days.

Gadar 2 earned ₹11.50 crore nett in India on its 12th day, according to early estimates from Sacnilk.com. The film's week one collection stands at ₹284.63 crore. On its second weekend, Gadar 2 earned ₹20.5 crore on Friday, ₹31.07 crore on Saturday, ₹38.9 crore on Sunday, and ₹13.50 crore on Monday.

Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel star in the sequel to the 2001 blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. In the original film, Sunny Deol played Tara Singh, a truck driver who falls in love with Sakeena (Ameesha Patel) during the partition of India in 1947.

Gadar 2 picks up the story 22 years later, with Tara Singh now a grandfather. He must go on a dangerous mission to Pakistan to rescue his son, Jeete (Utkarsh Sharma), who has been captured by the Pakistani army.

Sunny Deol introduced a special screening of Gadar 2 in London on Monday. The screening was organized by the Indian High Commission in London and its cultural wing, the Nehru Centre, and took place at Vue Cinema Leicester Square.

Deol revealed that he was initially "scared" of taking on a sequel to the iconic 2001 film, but the idea "clicked straight away" during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.

Sunny Deol said that Indians all over the world are celebrating Gadar 2 and that he is "overwhelmed" by the response to the film. He said that every man wants his wife to be like Sakeena and that every woman wants her husband to be like Tara Singh.
