Ganapath: A Disappointing Start At The Box Office

The action film Ganapath, starring Tiger Shroff, Kriti Sanon, and Amitabh Bachchan, had a poor start at the box office on its opening day. It earned only ₹2.50 crore in India on Friday, according to early estimates from Sacnilk.com.

Ganapath recorded an occupancy of 9.72% for the Hindi shows on its opening day. Amitabh Bachchan plays his grandfather, and Kriti Sanon also has several action sequences in the film. Tiger Shroff recently said that it is becoming increasingly difficult to reinvent himself as an action hero in each of his films.

Ganapath is an action-packed film in which Tiger Shroff's character, Guddu, transforms into a mercenary named Ganapath to save his people from a dangerous syndicate led by Dalini. Ganapath is Tiger Shroff's lowest-grossing opening film at the box office. His previous film, Heropanti 2, which grossed Rs 6.50 crore on its opening day, was his previous lowest opener.

Tiger Shroff's previous film before Heropanti 2 was Baaghi 3, which opened with Rs 17 crore. His biggest opener to date is War, co-starring Hrithik Roshan, which opened with Rs 53.35 crore. Tiger and Kriti Sanon made their debut in Heropanti in 2014, which opened with Rs 6.63 crore.

Ganapath was released one day after Vijay's Leo, which was a box-office smash. Yaariyan 2, which was also released on the same day as Ganapath, could only manage to collect Rs 60 lakh on its opening day.

After a difficult time during the pandemic, the Indian film industry has bounced back this year. It all started with the huge success of Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan. Other hits include Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, The Kerala Story, Satyaprem Ki Katha, and Gadar 2. Shah Rukh Khan's recent film Jawan has also performed exceptionally well at the box office.
