In RDX, we come across a familiar character type: the toughened fighter whose tough past shows in his behaviour and weathered face. But this movie gives us a twist – not just one, but three skilled fighters: Robert (played by Shane Nigam), his brother Dony (played by Antony ‘Pepe’ Varghese), and their friend Xavier (played by Neeraj Madhav).
However, the echoes of their past battles still smoulder, threatening to disrupt their newfound peace at any moment. RDX combines both elements perfectly. Robert (Shane Nigam) is quick with karate, his older brother Dony (Antony Varghese) is a strong boxer, and Xavier is amazing with Nunchaku.
Directors like Lokesh Kanagaraj and Prashanth Neel, and newcomer Nahas Hidhayath demonstrate great skill with action-packed movies. Even though the story of revenge is a bit ordinary, the director manages to bring out the most thrilling parts successfully.
But it's important to make sure that the action scenes are integrated into the story naturally, not just thrown in randomly. When the action scenes fit well with the story, the mass entertainer movie is a success. This is shown by recent blockbusters like Rajinikanth's Jailer, Kamal Haasan's Vikram, Mammootty's Bheeshma Parvam, and Mohanlal's Lucifer.
RDX takes place in a world full of tough and easily angered men, whether they're on the right or wrong side. The only calm figures in the whole movie seem to be the experienced Lal and Babu Antony.
