Directed by Atlee, the action thriller Jawan features Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles. On its opening day, theatres were packed since early morning, with fans eager to catch a glimpse of the superstar.
Film analyst Taran Adarsh has also shared the box office numbers of Jawan in Australia, New Zealand, Germany, and the UK. Red Chillies Entertainment took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to thank fans for the "Massy-ive love" for Jawan. The production company shared a poster of Jawan with the caption, "As Jawan says, 'Yeh toh bas shuruaat hai' (this is just the beginning)."
Earlier, Taran Adarsh had shared on X that Shah Rukh Khan has proved his "supremacy" overseas with Jawan. The film has created "havoc" in international markets, debuting at number one in Australia with a box office collection of Australian $398,030 ( ₹2.11 crore).
In New Zealand, Jawan debuted at number one, grossing New Zealand $79,805 (₹ 39.13 lakh). In Germany, the film debuted at number three, grossing €146,014 (₹1.3 crore). In the UK, Jawan grossed £208,061 (₹2.16 crore) till 9:20 AM IST. A few more locations are yet to be added. In the US and Canada, the film had a "flying start" and the box office numbers will be updated later.
Jawan opened to packed houses on its release day. The film grossed ₹75 crore nett in India on day one, according to Sacnilk.com. The report also states that the film minted ₹65 crore nett in Hindi and ₹5 crore nett each in Tamil and Telugu. In a video shared by a paparazzo account on Instagram, Nayanthara and Vignesh were seen walking hand-in-hand towards the airport entrance.
As Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan walked to the airport, one of them said, "Jawan movie nahi festival hai (Jawan isn't a movie, but a festival)." Nayanthara smiled and replied, "Thank you." She was dressed in a simple blue salwar suit and had her hair tied in a bun. Ahead of the release of Jawan, Nayanthara and her husband, Vignesh Shivan, visited the Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple in Tirupati to seek blessings.
