DC VS RCB: DC Keeps The Hopes Alive By Winning Against RCB In Match 50, IPL 2023

The Delhi Capitals secured their fourth win of the season against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Match 50 of TATA IPL 2023. The Capitals chased down RCB's 181/4 with seven wickets and 20 balls to spare. Phil Salt's impressive 87 (45) and quick-fire knocks from Mitchell Marsh (26 off 17) and Rilee Rossouw (35* off 22) led the Capitals to a comfortable victory. RCB's Virat Kohli and Mahipal Lomror's fifties had earlier put up a competitive score for the away team.

Delhi Capitals' chase started with David Warner and Salt, both of whom came out swinging. Warner hit a couple of fours off Siraj in the first over, while Salt hit a four and a six off Hazlewood. Salt continued his aggressive batting by hitting consecutive sixes and a four off Siraj. However, Hazlewood ended the 60-run stand by outfoxing Warner with a slower ball, having him caught at mid-off. Marsh took over and hit a six and a four off Hazlewood to take DC to 70/1 at the end of the Powerplay.

Salt continued to keep the scoreboard ticking and brought up his second IPL fifty with a pull over mid-wicket off Karn Sharma, taking 16 off the ninth over. However, Harshal Patel broke the 59-run partnership by having Marsh caught at deep square leg off a slower one.

Salt and Rilee Rossouw then took the attack to Patel, smashing three sixes and a four to amass 24 runs from the over and bring the required run rate below five. Salt continued to deal in sixes and smacked one over deep mid-wicket off Hasaranga to bring the equation down to 23 needed off 36. Salt's fantastic 87-run innings finally came to an end as he dragged one onto the stumps off Karn Sharma with 11 needed off 28.

Axar arrived and cracked a six first ball. Rossouw finished it off in style with a six over deep mid-wicket as DC chased down the target comfortably.

Earlier, RCB's Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bat. Kohli & du Plessis got RCB off to a steady start, with Kohli reaching his fifty off 42 balls. Lomror then brought up his fifty off just 26 balls as he cracked a four through extra cover off Mukesh Kumar. Kohli & Lomror hit three sixes and two fours as they put on 43 runs from the 12-15 overs phase. Lomror brought up the fifty-run stand off just 29 balls before Mukesh Kumar got the huge wicket of Kohli caught at short fine leg. Lomror then finished off the innings with an unbeaten 54 (29), hitting four fours & two sixes.

Delhi Capitals' Marsh, Mukesh Kumar, and Khaleel Ahmed replaced Anrich Nortje, Priyam Garg, and Ripal Patel. Delhi Capitals' Impact Player was Ripal Patel, who replaced Ishant Sharma. The away team named Harshal Patel, Suyash Prabhudessai, Michael Bracewell, Vijaykumar Vyshak, and Shahbaz Ahmed as their substitutes, while DC named Chetan Sakariya, Abishek Porel, Lalit Yadav, and Pravin Dubey.
