IPL 2023 Match 20: RCB Vs DC Key Highlights

The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore witnessed a breathtaking contest as the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) locked horns with the Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 20 of the TATA IPL 2023. The RCB bounced back from their defeat to Lucknow Super Giants to register a 23-run win over the DC. The match had a lot of twists and turns, with both teams putting up a great fight.

After winning the toss, DC captain David Warner chose to bowl first. RCB openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis made a good start and were quick to score runs. However, DC all-rounder Mitchell Marsh removed du Plessis in the fifth over, courtesy of an incredible one-handed catch from Aman Khan. RCB reached 47/1 at the end of the Powerplay.

Kohli then shifted gears and hit a couple of boundaries. He even survived a tough chance, as Kuldeep Yadav couldn't hold on to a catch that was hit straight back at him with power. Kohli scored a quick fifty off just 34 balls and propelled RCB to a competitive total of 174/6.

Chasing the target, DC was off to a bad start as RCB's Impact Player Anuj Rawat ran out Prithvi Shaw in the first over with a direct hit. In the next over, Marsh top-edged a delivery to point off Wyne Parnell, and four balls later, Yash Dhull was trapped LBW by Mohammed Siraj. DC struggled to score runs and managed just 12 off the first four overs. Warner, however, scored three consecutive fours off Siraj in the fifth over and then hit another four off debutant Vijaykumar Vyshak. Vyshak, though, bounced back and sent Warner packing. DC was struggling at 32/4 at the end of the Powerplay.

Manish Pandey and Abhishek Porel tried to revive DC's innings, but Harshal Patel removed Porel in the ninth over with a slower ball. Axar Patel tried to put up some fight with a 14-ball 21 but was caught out by Vyshak's knuckle ball. Pandey was the only player who held the fort for DC as he hit a couple of fours and a six off Hasaranga in the 14th over to bring up his fifty off 37 balls. However, Hasaranga struck back and trapped Pandey LBW in the same over. DC lost their final wicket in the 19th over and fell short of the target by 24 runs.

Vyshak was the pick of the bowlers for RCB, as he took three wickets on his debut, conceding just 20 runs in his four overs. The RCB bowlers bowled in tandem and restricted DC to just 151/9. RCB won the match by 23 runs.

This win helped RCB regain momentum in the TATA IPL 2023, as they now have four wins out of six matches. On the other hand, DC is still searching for their first win of the season. They have not attained even a single win in any of the 5 matches in the season till now.
