Batting first, PBKS posted a mammoth total of 214/8 on the board thanks to some brilliant batting performances by Sam Curran (55 off 29), Harpreet Singh (41 off 28), and Jitesh Sharma (25 off 7). In response, Mumbai Indians gave a tough fight with Cameron Green (67 off 43), Suryakumar Yadav (57 off 26), and Tim David (25* off 13) making some quickfire runs. However, Arshdeep Singh's four-wicket haul and disciplined bowling in the final over ensured a 13-run win for PBKS.
Winning the toss, Mumbai Indians decided to bowl first. Arjun Tendulkar gave MI a breakthrough in the third over, removing Matthew Short. However, PBKS fought back with Prabhsimran Singh (24 off 12) and Atharva Taide (26 off 16) scoring quick runs. But MI bounced back with Piyush Chawla dismissing Singh and Liam Livingstone in the same over. Skipper Sam Curran then took charge, blasting a quickfire half-century to take his team past the 200-run mark.
Chasing the target, MI lost Ishan Kishan early to Arshdeep Singh. Rohit Sharma (34 off 23) and Cameron Green then took charge, hitting some powerful shots to take the score to 54/1 at the end of the Powerplay. Rohit hit a six and a four in the 9th over before being dismissed by Liam Livingstone.
Suryakumar Yadav then took the charge, hitting boundaries at will. Cameron Green continued his assault with sixes and fours but lost his wicket to Nathan Ellis. Tim David tried to take the team over the line with his quickfire cameo but fell to Arshdeep Singh, who was the star of the match. The left-arm pacer ended with figures of 4/29, with his last over being the game-changer.
Despite a valiant effort by MI, PBKS emerged victorious, thanks to their collective batting performance and disciplined bowling in the death overs.
