WhatsApp will begin rolling out the ability to send HD photos globally over the next few weeks. The ability to send HD videos will also be coming soon. WhatsApp will soon allow users to send photos in high-definition (HD) quality.
The Meta-owned messaging app announced the update earlier this week. With the new feature, users will be able to send photos in HD (2000*3000 pixels) or standard size (1365*2048 pixels) quality.
HD photos will take longer to send or load, depending on internet speed, and they will also take up more storage space. However, many WhatsApp users have requested this feature, which is already available on other platforms.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Facebook that WhatsApp users can now send photos in HD quality. He shared a video on his Facebook page that shows how to send photos in HD or standard quality.
The process to send photos remains the same, but there is now an "HD" option at the top of the screen, next to the pen and crop tools. Users can select between standard and HD quality by tapping on the "HD" option.
WhatsApp has launched many significant updates since the beginning of the year. Moreover earlier this month, WhatsApp launched screen sharing featuring during video calls. Users can use these features during the presentation.
